This knife was designed over 40 years ago for Mr. Hibben's black belt thesis in American Kenpo Karate under Ed Parker, and suffice it to say, no part of this knife was made in vain; every detail has a purpose.Unusually for a knife, it is balanced like a fine sword. It has a lot of heft for a fighting knife, but the fine balance negates that. It is high quality, attractive and finely built. It has the original red and black stripes in the hilt, with a heavy brass pommel and guard, and a large but finely shaped wood handle. The pommel has a lanyard hole.
It comes with a quality, sturdy leather sheath. It's not versatile, with only a belt loop allowing for a right hander a same side overhand draw, or an overhand cross draw.
The false-edge is flat and unsharpened, unlike the original (I put in a lot of work with a file and sharpened mine). The edge is sharp, but not too sharp, especially near the tip, and it was a bit assymetrically sharpened on one side as compared to the other near the point. Some slight file work and a short time on a stone brought it entirely to a fine razor edge, however.
